Kickstarter expert and trusted World of Darkness guardian, Onyx Path are back and this time they have got a new candidate to join White Wolf’s world. Deviant: The Renegades is an RPG about strangely changed people and those that hunt them.
The publisher is asking for $35,000 to do a traditional print run of the game. With 26 days on the clock, at the time of writing, there is already $40,00+ pledged. You can follow progress on Kickstarter.
The Deviants in Deviant: The Renegades have been transformed by other humans. Those people may have used magic, science or even some fluke of fate to achieve the game but humanity is the parents of the Deviants.
Onyx Path Publishing will be creating an 8.5″ by 11″ hardcover as a result of the Kickstarter success. There will be more than 250 pages with rules on Clades (classifications), setting, the Renegades themselves, the Storytelling system, antagonists, the setting, storytelling tips and example conspiracies.
The PDF of the game will set you back $25. That’s on the higher end of PDF prices, but you get access to the manuscript preview and can follow updates. $30 will upgrade you to the “at cost” print-on-demand option, and $50 will get you a hardcover copy from the traditional print run plus the PDF and print-on-demand coupon.
The design diary for Deviants on Onyx Path Publishing’s website dates back to 2017. The elevator pitch for the RPG then is pretty much the same to the one in the Kickstarter. The characters are Remade, transformed at the hands of other humans, the Progenitors, and who have escaped.
The Kickstarter doesn’t make mention of authors, but a Halloween update on OPP introduces Eric Zawadzki as a co-developer, and the introductory post came from Dave Brookshaw.
