Vincenzo Natali’s Splice

Splice is a sci-fi horror from Vincenzo Natali. He’s the chap behind Cube and so that might give you an idea of what sort of move he makes. Guillermo del Tero produced the movie as well. A strong pedigree.

Boasting the tag line; “Science’s newest miracle is a mistake”, Spice features Adrien Brody (King Kong) and Sarah Polley (Dawn of the Dead) as scientists who merge human and animal DNA. The results are predictable.

Over at Sci-Fi Wire, Patrick Lee, reckons all this adds up to a good thing.

However, a note of caution, Venkman at Geek Tyrant watched it at The Sundance Film Festival and didn’t like it. It’s not just that the script is “weirdly insane” but that it’s badly acted.

Venkman also suggests the trailer doesn’t really highlight the craziness. Nevertheless; here it is – what do you think?
