This post contains a lengthy preview of the adventure House of Paper Shadows so if you’re a player who might play it, please be fair and skip past this post instead.
This download is a horror-themed wuxia adventure for Wandering Heroes of Ogre Gate from Bedrock Games. Wandering Heroes of Ogre Gate is a vast 492 Wuxia RPG which you can get from DrivethruRPG for whatever you think is a fair amount to pay. The recommended price is US$9.99 and the game is averaging 4.5/5 review stars.
Wuxia is that martial art cinematic style where the heroes can leap about seemingly immune to gravity and where high adventure is always around the corner. Geek Native’s Genre Police have unpacked it further if you would like to read up further.

House of Paper Shadows will set you back US$7.99 for 97-pages of illustrated adventure. That’s good value. It’s written by Brendan Davis, Dan Orcutt (two of three designers for Ogre Gate) and Ryan Turner.
Horror and wuxia go together well and often. In this adventure, the PCs will encounter a strange house where some of the halls are flesh and paper, where there are spirited beasts and all sorts of mythological horrors.
As a bonus, there’s also new characters and Kung Fu techniques in the adventure for use in other Ogre Gate games as well as a mini-time travelling mystery adventure.
The lead artist on the project is Jackie Musto who Geek Native spoke to in 2016 about working on Wandering Heroes of Ogre Gate. She was new to the genre before this game but enjoyed discovering it, telling Geek Native;
Ogre Gate has been a really informative and interesting project. Previously I had only been tangentially familiar with the Wuxia genre, though I had seen the visuals before. It’s actually got me researching ancient Chinese art and culture again. I took a few Asian Art courses in college and my leftover textbooks have been very useful. It’s also just super fun – drawing fights, flowing robes and great action scenes is always a blast.
