If you’re a geek you can probably answer this question;
When was the last time you encountered a dragon?
It might have been in a computer game, in a movie or perhaps in a tabletop RPG. The latter earns the most cool points. Dragons aren’t uncommon encounters for geeks.
Are dragons scary any more? Are they still the creatures of mythos, the ultimate armoured foe armed with firepower and deadly intelligence?
Most geeks thought not. Last year Geek Native had a copy of The Splintered Gods, a book from Stephen Deas’ Memory of Flames series, to giveaway and so ran a competition. Entering the competition was easy as all readers had to do was answer a poll to say whether they were a geek or not and whether they thought dragons were scary.
75% of geeks didn’t think dragons were scary. The results from non-geeks were more balanced but still the dragons lost out as 53% of non-geeks weren’t scared by them either.
Are dragons scary
Are people being brave simply because this is a web poll? A dragon encounter in any sort of game means trouble, right? What do you think?

My theory is that dragons
are actually alien space ships that they imagined as an animal with fire
coming out his mouth and shiny big eyes. Nothing in nature resembles
them except lizards, but the size is pretty amazing. Enormous and eats
people who go near them?
