Quadcopters are everywhere these days. What’s the next step in their evolutionary path? Races!
This footage comes from a pre-event that happened in France. You don’t need to understand the language to see that they’re racing these drones through the woodland and driving them with video goggles. That’s right – the pilot sees what the drone sees. They have to duck under branches, follow the arrows on the course and watch out for the other drones on the same route as them.
What next? Drone race wars? Why not arm these drones so they can survive a bash or two and perhaps jab at a rival?
Fans can keep up at the Airgonay community on Facebook. Let’s see how many years this takes to be a primetime sport. We already know how long it’ll be until one racing drone as an X-Wing glow on it’s rear end. None. That’s happened already.
