Lords of War is a Kickstarter from Herocraft that looks to blend some RPG elements into a turn based strategy. The video pitch does a good job at explaining it; your hero is a significant influence in the battle, earning experience and upgrades. You also have to protect your cities while your enemy tries to take them off you.
There’s a tree system for progress, health and healing as well as “terramorphing” which lets special heroes claim gold mines and mana sources. In other words Lords of Discord will give you a lot to think about whether you’re playing as human or demon.
If successful Lords of Discord will have a multiplayer and single-player options to suit.
Herocraft, the publisher behind Warhammer 40K Space Wolf for smartphones and tablets, are asking for £60,000 for the project. This is a large sum but there’s still two weeks on the clock and the publisher is promising a move away from “Freemium ” so backers won’t need to constantly add cash to keep the game going.
A DRM free copy of the game for a platform of your choice starts at only £6 and for £9 you get a copy of Lords of Discord for all platforms. That’s incredibly good value and shows why Herocraft have both hundreds of backers and yet plenty more money to raise.
