Brian Fargo and Monte Cook’s Torment: Tides of Numenera has raised more than $1,000,000 and it took less than 7 hours. It funded, hitting the $900,000 mark, in about six hours.
Back in July Kickstarter published top 10 quickest campaigns to hit $1m and it is closer than you might think. The Ouya, the tiny Android powered game console, hit a million dollars in 8 hours and 22 minutes.
Now it’s a matter of seeing how high Torment can go. In it’s first 24 hours the Ouya, which had lots of big blog coverage, made $2,589,687.77. At Torment’s current run rate it will beat that tally. The catch, of course, is that the Ouya is hardware and so people wanting an early Ouya had to pledge fairly high. Digital copies of Torment: Tides of Numenera will go for $20 to $25 (when the limited slots fill up). Much will depend on the coverage the campaign gets.
I’ve contacted Kickstarter to confirm the figures; both Torment’s time count and to check that no one has beaten Ouya’s record in the meantime.
