Marketing take control at WizKids

Lax Chandra is leaving WizKids to join an internet start up. Chandra became President of WizKid Games, the HeroClix publisher, in 2006 in a move which saw him move from Director of Business Development at Topps. Topps owned WizKids at the time.

WizKids is now a NECA company and Chandra will be replaced by Justin Ziran. Ziran has had various marketing positions at WizKids, including while Topps owned the company, and most recently was VP of Brand Marketing.

Only time will tell whether we’ll see a difference in WizKids with the new President. However, this blogger who works in digital marketing is all too aware of the different mindsets between the sales focused business development people and brand marketers.
