Augmented Reality on the PS Vita looks surprisingly good

No sooner do I get through reading that Hong Kong has gone crazy for PlayStation Vita pre-orders than I stumble across this video.

Now, before we get to the video and with respect to Ben Parfitt’s article; I agree with the sentiments expressed by Nicholas Lovell during The London Games Conference. He said handheld consoles are doomed.

Why? We’ll all use our powerful smartphones instead. Some of the latest Android smartphones have quad-core.

However, the PS Vita is a beast of machine. Pocket War, Pulsar and even FlickBall look like strong titles. If you can play it in a bar then the tech has the potential to go viral.

What do you think? Better than you expected? I may have to change my mind about the future of handhelds – well, unless I see a mobile phone doing something as powerful.
