Something is Wrong With the Library is a new horror game on the way from Strange Scaffold and Frosty Pop, and we have the details – along with a fun-looking trailer to give you a bit more of the kind of vibe you can expect.
Described as a ‘cosy horror’ game, it features the trademark genre mashup you can come to expect from the developers, meaning it’ll probably tickle a few different spots as you play. Your job? Sorting books in a massive library where something is most definitely very, very wrong.
The game uses the Dewey Decimal System whilst you go about uncovering dark secrets, and listen to voiced storytelling, find real book titles, and enjoy a chaos system designed for replayability.
There’s the full trailer below, but first let’s lookit some more info straight from the developers:
Shelve hundreds of real books in a library haunted by blood and meat. A spooky narrative organizing simulator by the studio behind I Am Your Beast and Clickolding.
Alex Dieter, billionaire king of the Fortune 500, has single-handedly revitalized your small mountain town. He installed fiber internet. He paid for new landscaping. He’s established a host of initiatives to make Sweet Elm a curated hub of technological innovation and small-town comfort. And, to cleanse the city, he’s been killing various homeless people and stuffing them in the walls of the local library.
- Fully-voiced story with an entire library of eerie manifestations to unlock.
- An authentic modern library filled with thousands of real book titles.
- Modular Chaos System–every playthrough gives you a different set of books to shelve!
- Organise fallen and missing books by Dewey Decimal System classification, author, and title.
- The Drowning Room.
Well, this all sounds very fun, but the trailer is something else. Check it out:
Ahh, I love libraries, and this is actually tickling something in me right now. I might actually have to play this one (or at least add it to the ever-growing list of things I have no time to play).
There’s no specific release date yet – but you can find more details on Steam for now. Don’t worry, we’ll keep you updated, gang.
