Roll20 has just launched a brand new, completely free to use system called Token Maker which allows users to create digital tokens by uploading art or creating your own character using their toolset, to use in various games.
The new Roll20 Token Maker can be used with games including D&D, Pathfinder, Daggerheart, Call of Cthulhu, Cyberpunk RED, Cosmere – plus more!
As I type this, there are currently a few pre-made options with variations, along with a paywall that I won’t be paying for, where presumably you can get some more bang with the addition of bucks.
I had a quick look, and quite liked the random purple dude I was given (below) – but, don’t take my word for it, you can try it out for yourself right now as the web app is live right now.
One of the most standout features of this new Toker Maker is that it enables users to turn any token into a pop-out token, where the character appears to partially break out of their frame. It also supports WebM animations, if you decide you want your token to be animated.
How to use Roll20’s Token Maker
- Open the Roll20 Token Maker tool in your web browser.
- Upload or pick a character portrait image.
- Add a frame or border style to match your campaign setting.
- Export your finished creation as a PNG or animated WebM file, ready to upload to your virtual tabletop.
Simple, eh?
