Roll20 leak reveals official World of Warcraft product for Dungeons & Dragons

A premature storefront listing on digital tabletop platform Roll20 has leaked an upcoming official crossover between Dungeons & Dragons and World of Warcraft. The leak appeared online days before Wizards of the Coast takes over the Indiana Repertory Theatre for the D&D Vision Keynote at Gen Con in Indianapolis on 30 July 2026. The deleted marketplace draft indicated that pre-orders were live for a joint release bridging two of the largest fantasy titles in gaming.

Reports published by tabletop outlets EN World and D&D Fanatics confirmed the Roll20 marketplace draft briefly went public before site administrators removed it. The slip indicates that Hasbro and Wizards of the Coast are expanding their licensing strategy deeper into roleplaying games, building on earlier brand adaptations seen in Stranger Things and Minecraft.

This release marks a notable shift in corporate alignment. John Hight, former General Manager of the World of Warcraft franchise at Blizzard Entertainment, joined Wizards of the Coast as studio president in 2024. Hasbro Chief Executive Chris Cocks previously signalled during financial updates earlier this year that Wizards of the Coast would pursue broader brand partnerships for Dungeons & Dragons.

Tabletop adaptations of Azeroth are not entirely new. In 2003, White Wolf’s Sword & Sorcery imprint published Warcraft: The Roleplaying Game, followed by the World of Warcraft RPG in 2005 under the d20 Open Game License. Those earlier rulebooks eventually diverged from Blizzard’s official story canon as the online video game evolved.

Questions remain regarding how this new release will integrate with current tabletop systems. While earlier 5e tie-ins provided standalone starter adventures or basic settings, players will watch closely to see whether this crossover introduces bespoke character classes and rules representing MMORPG mechanics or focuses on subclasses compatible with the 2024 core rulebooks.

Head of D&D Franchise Dan Ayoub is set to lead the keynote presentation in Indianapolis next week, where full product details, release schedules, and VTT platform availability are expected to be formally confirmed.
