Indie studio Pure Magic Pictures has announced the live digital premiere of its new fantasy comedy film, A Fairy Fail, scheduled for Thursday, July 23rd 2026. Written, directed, and produced by Stefanie Hubbard, the 80-minute feature film follows the chaotic story of Charlize, a well-meaning but clumsy fairy assigned to improve the life of a struggling trading card game player, only to inadvertently make things worse.
The movie stars Anna Rudegeair as the titular fairy and was filmed entirely in Brooklyn, New York, over 10 days in February 2026. Local tabletop gaming landmark Twenty Sided Store in Williamsburg serves as a primary setting, acting as the workplace for the character Samantha and providing the backdrop for scenes involving a card game called Dino Guru.
The production relied on a highly collaborative environment to bring its characters to life. Scotty Corn, who plays Loren in the film, highlighted how closely he worked with the director to establish his performance.
Scotty Corn, Actor at Pure Magic Pictures, said in a statement,
Working with Stefanie made Loren come to life. I did nothing but hear-out what she needed in the character to make Fairy Fail what she needed it to be. I have the upmost respect for Stefanie and the Pure Magic crew so I knew she would lead me in the right direction. And dammit, was I right! When Stefanie wanted me to play Loren, I thought, “Listen, if you want Loren, then we gotta find OUR Loren!”
The choice of real Brooklyn locations, including overnight filming in the snow at McGolrick Park and along the foggy East River, aims to bring an authentic, atmospheric quality to the urban fantasy setting. The comedy also features local independent businesses, such as Macoletta Pizza in Williamsburg.
Stefanie Hubbard, Writer/Director at Pure Magic Pictures, said,
I wanted to tell the story of Charlize the Fairy because it means a lot to me, and I hope the audience gets in a few laughs, soak in the heartfelt moments, and walk away each with the part of the film that meant the most to them.”

Executive producer and director of photography Kalani Hubbard expressed early enthusiasm for the unique tabletop-focused premise.
Kalani Hubbard, Executive Producer at Pure Magic Pictures, told us;
I was very excited when I first heard the concept for this movie, and knew it’s what I wanted Pure Magic Pictures to create next. Can’t believe it’s here already. It’s a hilarious movie with some great twists and turns.”
The digital premiere is locked in for late July and will be available from Pure Magic Pictures’ streaming platform.
