Independent publisher Cherry Bomb Comics LLC has announced an expansion to its creator-owned dark fantasy horror setting, The Brooding Muse Universe.

The upcoming dual-narrative volume, titled Dollhouse! and The Powered Book One, is scheduled for a July 2026 release directly on Amazon. Operating laterally within the publisher’s established indie mythology, the book is designed to run concurrent with Book Three of the main series arc rather than acting as a standard standalone spin-off.
Founded in 2022 by writer Zack Slattery, Cherry Bomb Comics LLC has spent several years quietly developing an interconnected, slow-burn psychological horror line. This new 18.99 USD physical release expands the reach of that underlying continuity. Instead of relying on traditional corporate-superhero dynamics or young-adult tropes, the book targets mature collectors seeking historical continuity, philosophical depth, and atmospheric dread reminiscent of early Vertigo titles or classic Clive Barker stories.
Dual Narratives in a Cursed Battlefield
The upcoming release features two distinct, complete stories bound within a single volume, exploring a ruined landscape where conventional societal structures have collapsed. The provided preview artwork showcases a high-contrast, black-and-white underground punk illustration style, emphasising heavy ink work, visceral action sequences, and supernatural themes.
The first narrative, Dollhouse!, follows a rogue military kill team known as The Country Club. The squad is lured into a sealed, ruined architecture haunted by past violence and overseen by Blackhand. Described not as a typical slasher villain but as a ritualistic manifestation of consequence, the masked figure wields a rusted sledgehammer and enforces ancient rules that the changing outer world no longer controls.
The second narrative front, The Powered Book One, follows four individuals who discover their supernatural abilities are not heroic gifts. Instead, their talents are conditions of a pre-existing, binding blood contract with a monitoring system that has come to collect its debt. Rather than running as parallel tales that simply inhabit the same world, the two stories are framed as bleeding wounds within the same broken geography.
Comic Book Preview
The preview imagery highlights the book’s stark artistic style, moving from intense firefights and helicopter crashes down to supernatural body horror, occult imagery, and masked chainsaw-wielding figures.
