China has banned foreign firms from investing in the domestic games industry. The authorities hope this is a way to curtail Western attempts to skirt around strict censorship laws.
The ruling has come from the General Administration of Press and Publication and the National Copyright Administration and is so strict that foreign firms may not even offer tech support.
The authorities have also announced that nearly 50 overseas online games being run for Chinese players have been shutdown within the last week.
