Speaking to Geek Native at the UK Games Expo, the team behind CobblePath Games revealed bespoke playing cards for their horror roleplaying game Locus, and they are already selling out fast. This unexpected release marks the first, and potentially the last, time fans can purchase these highly collectable playing cards, which have proven so desirable that even attendees who do not own the core game are snapping them up.

Locus, a mystery and personal horror RPG, typically requires a standard deck of cards and 3d6 to play. However, these new official playing cards, as seen above, feature grim, atmospheric dark art specific to the game’s evil setting, complete with “haunts” and “virtues” printed directly on them. The game, heavily inspired by franchises like Event Horizon and Silent Hill, challenges a cast of two to five players to survive a supernatural mystery directed by the games master.
Every character in Locus carries a haunt, a tragic past event that serves as a central mechanic of the roleplaying game. Having these explicitly noted on the cards adds a tactile layer of dread to the tabletop experience.

A representative for CobblePath Games told Geek Native at UK Games Expo that people are buying the cards before buying Locus.
For attendees tempted by the horror roleplaying game, the booth is offering a bundle discount, making it cheaper to purchase Locus and the playing cards together rather than individually. CobblePath Games, which has also garnered attention for its award-nominated LARP DreamLands, can be found at stand 3-558.
