VR Distribution, one of the leading independent distributors in the UK, has used this weekend’s UK Games Expo to confirm a massive new retail deal for the European mega-hit Skyjo.

While the distributor is showcasing a tightly curated lineup of family and hobby games on the show floor at the NEC, the game that physically missed the convention is generating the most significant industry chatter.
Speaking to Geek Native on the UK Games Expo show floor, Phil Jones, Managing Director of VR Distribution, confirmed that after years of negotiations, the company has officially secured the rights to bring Skyjo to the United Kingdom. Designed and previously exclusively published by Alexander Bernhardt and his company Magilano, the accessible card game has dominated Amazon charts across Europe. The title relies on a “lowest score wins” mechanic, blending memory, fast-paced action, and light strategic thinking for kids and adults alike.
Despite the ink being dry on the partnership, logistical realities intervened this weekend. The expected crates of Skyjo did not arrive in time for the convention. However, Jones revealed an aggressive roadmap for the game’s UK arrival.
We are expecting to get Skyjo into independent gaming stores very soon, paving the way for a major mass-market push into retailers like John Lewis this August.”
While Skyjo dominates the behind-the-scenes business discussions, CMYK’s Magical Athlete is stealing the physical spotlight at the VR Distribution stand. Shortlisted for Best Family Game at the 2026 Judges’ Awards, it is a chaotic, laugh-out-loud racer where players draft bizarre competitors with inherently unfair powers.
Geek Native can confirm that VR Distribution flew in just a single crate of Magical Athlete specifically for the convention. Because of this extreme scarcity, the game is excluded from the distributor’s multi-buy bargain deals. A giant version of the game is currently being demoed on the floor, pulling crowds and solidifying its reputation as a quick-to-teach title built for loud reactions.

VR Distribution’s current UKGE roster highlights their push into high-impact, fast-playing titles. Alongside familiar hits like Psycho Killer and Secret Hitler, the distributor is showcasing CMYK’s high-drama betting game Hot Streak, Amigo’s tense simultaneous-selection game 6 Nimmt! Baron Oxx, and Cabanga, which recently won the Best Imagination Gaming Game of the Year Award 2025.
Attendees at the UK Games Expo can find VR Distribution at stand 3-561 for hands-on demos. Skyjo is currently available for pre-order via select independent online retailers.
