The acclaimed director Rintaro has begun work on a new anime to “defeat Hollywood” and produce a work that’ll “express characteristically Asian feelings.” The project will be a joint Korean-Japanese venture, will be in 3D and will take about four years to complete.
Also working on the project will be Ji Young-jun the producer of Cyborg She, who will be planning and writing for the yet to be named anime.
Speaking at a press conference during the Korean International Creative Content Fair in Seoul, Rintaro explained that the anime will feature a Caucasian mother who begins a great adventure as she attempts to save children who have been transported into a world of Asian mythos.
Rinatro is known to anime fans as the director behind Galaxy Express 999, X and Metropolis.
