NED: The New Era of Fantasy trailer

Joymax’s latest MMORPG was popular at the 2011 Game Developer’s Conference. The game makes the point of not just including monsters to threaten you but enviormental hazards (like this one?) as well.

What we have here is the teaser trailer. I very much doubt this is gameplay. The first question, though, is surely – what does NED stand for? N.E. could well be New Era… but the D? Could this be for Darkeden – which was Joymax’s first product back in 07?

What do you think a MMORPG needs to do to be successful this day? I’m pleased there’s so much money rolling into one form of roleplaying but the MMORPG market seems awfully crowded.
