Tabletop games publisher Steamforged Games has announced two new additions to its popular Epic Encounters range, bringing fresh mysteries and a colossal boss battle to gaming tables. The new sets, titled Sanctuary of the Steelborn and The Titan’s Vigil, are designed for 5e-compatible roleplaying games and are slated for an October 2025 release.

The Epic Encounters series provides GMs with a convenient “adventure-in-a-box” format. Steamforged Games’ pitch is that these sets are designed to offer a cinematic experience with minimal preparation, making them a useful tool for both seasoned storytellers and those new to the GM’s chair. The figures that come with them are very much in the Steamforged wheelhouse of model making.
The new releases continue this trend. Sanctuary of the Steelborn challenges players to uncover the secrets of a mysterious, chilling location, while The Titan’s Vigil promises a climactic boss battle of immense scale. Each box comes packed with detailed miniatures, an adventure book, and illustrated battle maps to create an immersive session.
Epic Encounters sets are generally categorised into two types: warband boxes and boss boxes. Warband sets, such as the previously released Hall of the Orc King, are plot-driven adventures featuring a variety of minions and a leader. Boss boxes, on the other hand, focus on a single, formidable adversary to create a memorable, set-piece finale. It is a model that has proven successful for the publisher, which now boasts over 20 sets in the range.
These adventure boxes can be seamlessly integrated into an existing campaign, used as standalone one-shot adventures, or even kick-start a new story arc. Some sets are explicitly designed to be linked, allowing GMs to build a short series of connected encounters.
The line has been recognised for its utility, earning an ENnie nomination.
Epic Encounters: Sanctuary of the Steelborn and The Titan’s Vigil are scheduled to hit retail on October 7th, 2025. Pre-orders are now open on the official Steamforged Games website.
