I can imagine an hourglass made from the screaming faces of the damned as a centrepiece of a horror noir.
I’d be wrong this time, though. Instead of a brave adventurer who masters the riddle and defeats the dangers of the temple only to lose their sanity at the sight of the horrific idol, we have a Wizards of the Coast merch deal maker.
Beholder Hourglass
Our WotC deal maker has signed off on the D&D Sand Timer.

Two thoughts. It’s actually kinda fun. I’ve called it an hourglass, but Merchoid doesn’t tell buyers how long it takes the red sand to drain through the howls of the beholder.
Could you insist that players finish their plotting and scheming before the sand runs out? Would that speed combat up or just be unfair?
Beholder Mug
If the site of dangerous eyes and gnashing teeth is not enough to tremble the horror radar, what about a tankard made from tendrils and tongues?

Merchoid also has this D&D Tankard.
I don’t mind slurping my beer while my teeth clash with a Combat Rating much higher than my own, but I do mind not being told whether the tankard was dishwasher safe. I imagine it isn’t. (It would attack other mugs).
Both these “horrific” D&D items are officially licensed, and both would make cheeky Valentine’s Day gifts and perfect for game night.
