Netflix and CD Projekt Red have just announced a new anime adventure set in the seedy world of Night City, and we’re 100% here for it.
The announcement was made during Netflix’s Geeked Week, by way of a short tease confirming the streaming service was teaming back up with CD Projekt Red for a new anime project.
CDPR had previously suggested they’d be open to the idea of more Cyberpunk anime, after Edgerunners went down so well with audiences, and it does seem like that’s now the case, as the company begin “laying the groundwork” for a full sequel to Cyberpunk 2077.
However, we’re well aware they’re probably going to wait to get Witcher 4 out the door, first.
Anyway, here’s the teaser clip – not that it gives away very much. Or, really, anything at all. In fact, all we really do know is that this will be a new story set in Night City; the rest is pure speculation at this point, including whether we’re even talking about a show or a feature film.
However, we can be fairly sure it won’t be a return to the same characters as Edgerunners, as CDPR have in the past been quite clear that was strictly a one-season thing.
With more info apparently dropping ‘soon’, I guess we’ll just have to watch this space.
But wait! Can’t get enough of the Cyberpunk world? Then check out Cyberpunk: Edgerunners Mission Kit on DriveThruRPG.
