Vortex Verlag will launch a Kickstarter for their first large-scale RPG. The Straight Way Lost is an epic adventure set between Heaven and Hell in a fantasy version of Renaissance Italy.

The Kickstarter is slated for July 11th and will feature new character classes and species suitable for the setting. There are background chapters to detail everyday life in the supernatural Italian Renaissance (expect Bards!)
The Straight Way Lost includes historical personalities to interact with, new monsters and foes such as Souleaters, the Malebranche and fallen angels in hell.
The game, designed by Melina Sedo, will stretch to 400 full-colour pages in hardback, include nearly 150 illustrations and offer up a campaign of an adventure featuring more than 100 NPCs.
There are battle maps, STLs and sound files available as extras in the Kickstarter.

Welcome to our roleplaying adventure for the 5th edition of the most popular roleplaying game, The Straight Way Lost.
This adventure is set in a somewhat fantastical version of Italy in the year 1492. On the surface everything is as described in the history books, but mostly hidden from view there are magic, hidden races, the realms of the divine and infernal and the mysterious fey.
1492 is a year of innovation and change in Europe, but despite the development of the humanistic world view, there is injustice and inequity. Women are socially and politically not equal to men, people from foreign countries and of different appearance are likely to be met with distrust, and those who do not subscribe to Roman Catholicism are often persecuted. This is no fair world, but the characters in this campaign can by their actions make it better.
Please also note that despite our personal atheistic or agnostic views, we are deeply interested in religious studies and discourse. We certainly do not want to hurt anyone’s religious feelings or spiritual beliefs. This is nevertheless a game for grown-ups with an interest not only in mystery and adventure, but also in history and in the important questions that induce humankind to evolve. We offer you an abundance of background information and advice that will allow even an inexperienced Game Master or Game Mistress (will use the abbreviation GM throughout the book) to conduct a successful campaign. An expert storyteller will hopefully be inspired to enrich this saga with as many sub-plots as they like. The material presented can engage a dedicated group for many weeks, months or even years of exciting role-play.
