Gen Urobuchi and Renji Ooki have the script credits for the anime Revenger, and Urobuchi is a big deal. Previous projects include Psycho-Pass, Kamen Rider Gaim and Puella Magi Madoka Magica.
The visual novel developer Nitroplus is working with distributor Shochiku to release the TV anime. Outside Asia, Crunchyroll will stream the show.
Raizo Kurima, a guy who was deceived by someone he trusted, is the focus of the “dark hero action” anime. He is now a hitman for the group Revenger, which seeks vengeance on behalf of those with no power. He works at the “Ribenjiya” store, which appears to be a general store, while concealing the Revenger organisation beneath the surface. His coworkers include a physician with destructive tendencies, a handsome androgynous young guy who is both cruel and innocent, a gambler who enjoys both money and booze, and an astute lacquer maker. Working together, the five men begin to form an odd bond.
We don’t have long to wait for Revenger to find vengeance on the small screen, as the show is slated to premiere on January 5th.
Crunchyroll describe it;
As master assassin Usui Yuen looks into a series of assassinations made on the grand samurai clan, the Satsuma, he encounters Kurima Raizo, member and survivor of one of the attacks. Together, they discover the true nature of these murders is bigger than over stolen resources. As they get closer to the truth, will they come out alive to exact revenge?
