We had a host of Spider-man baddies in No Way Home (maybe) we’ll get that (sometimes) Spider-man villain in their own movie with Morbius.
However, it’s another villain that ranks as the most popular with fans. Retailer Zavvi found an alternative way than just mining Google Trends to see which character fans like to talk about. The merchandise master looked at Instagram hashtags as well!
Here’s the top five tagged plus searched for Spider-foes!
- Carnage
- Black Cat
- Venom
- Morbius
- Mysterio
Geek Native asked Zavvi to comment. Alistair Ryder from the eCommerce site said;
The recent Venom films have struck a chord with audiences because they offer big, silly fun at a time when superhero movies keep trying to get serious. Carnage’s recent ascent to the big screen in the Venom sequel has transformed the character into much more of a household name, inspiring fans to go back to the comic book origins of Cletus Kasady, a complicated adversary to Spider-Man, and the ultimate arch nemesis of Venom.”
It’s hard to disagree. The symbiotes have always been popular with Spider-fans.
However, could Jared Leto’s movie challenge the alien for the top spot? Morbius does make the top five already!
It’s not a tight battle for the top spot. In fact, you can add Mysterio’s score to Morbius, and it still wouldn’t be enough to challenge Carnage.
Down at the bottom of the list, surprisingly, where you’ll find Doctor Otocpus along with Kraven the Hunter and Mister Negative, there’s barely any interest at all. Perhaps this is because these characters don’t take so readily to cosplay?
