There’s a new trailer for Space Battleship Yamato 2205 and 22-minutes of action from The Era of Space Battleship Yamato: The Choice of 2202 A.D now online. Plenty to catch up with!
The new 70-seconds trailer for the first part (because this movie will be multi-part) of Space Battleship Yamato 2205 shows us Great Pleiades of the Great Magellanic Cloud force of the Dark Nebula Empire in action.
It’s a clip that confirms Masuo Amada (Darius in Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood) as the voice actor.
The feature-length follows from the 1979 Space Battleship Yamato: The New Voyage TV special set three years after the war with the White Comet Empire.
Go far enough back in the plot, to the 1974 anime, and you’ve a spaceship from Earth sent to investigate the planet Iscandar and retrieve a device that might save the planet from the radiation created by the Gamilon bombing.
Space Battleship Yamato influenced shows like Gundam, Evangelion and Macross as a complex military sci-fi.
Meanwhile, the 120-minute compilation of Space Battleship Yamato 2199 and Space Battleship Yamato 2202: Warriors of Love, known as The Era of Space Battleship Yamato: The Choice of 2202 A.D. has the first 20 or so minutes on YouTube.
Most of these shows are rushing towards DVD and Blu-ray in Japan, at least.
