Mutant Year Zero is a tabletop RPG from Free League Publishing that has gone on to spawn computer games and many supplements.
The People at the End of Time is a fan-made trailer from the artist MMK for the game. It repurposes illustrations from the core rulebooks and the Genlab Alpha rulebook, blending with original art from MMK.
Geek Native’s review of Mutant Year Zero called it a wonderfully horrible way to die, as all mutants surely do, and dates back to 2014. That feels like an apocalypse ago.
Players in the game adopt the role of mutant scavengers from the Arc who are brave enough or at least driven enough to venture out into the wilderness to look for much-needed supplies.
It’s a dangerous setting that blends elements of map crawling in with story-driven and character-centric roleplay.
For me, and for many people, it was the first exposure to Free League Publishing. Mutant Year Zero was published by Modiphius and Free League together. Since then, both companies have gone on to great things, Modiphius winning impressive franchise and Free League seemingly to take even critical elements of distribution in-house.
