A team of Native American RPG creators have a roaring Kickstarter success on their hands in the shape of Coyote & Crow, a sci-fi RPG set in an America that was never colonised.
The campaign will create physical books and so set a target of $18,000. That was reached within the hour, and there is $350,000 or so pledged with 25 days still on the clock.
Bad news, though. While PDFs are available, those physical books will not ship outside the Americas during this Kickstarter, and so the rest of the world will have to wait for them. You can check out the current total or join in from the project page.
Coyote and Crow will use a new RPG system for its mechanics. A d12 pool will determine success or failure as well as the degree of effect. Dice have to roll equal to or higher than the target number to count as a success, and particular challenges might need several dice to roll a success.
More than 700 years ago, a bright purple streak shot across the night sky. Over the coming weeks, the Earth fell into a deep winter, the seas raged and ash rained from the sky. The event became known as the Awis. As resources dwindled, winter became longer and summer shorter, people struggled to survive. Wars erupted, people starved, some fleeing their ancestral homes before creeping ice sheets.
A pledge of $20 will result in a reward of a PDF copy of Coyote and Crow, no matter where in the world you are.
The full-colour hardback is added to the benefits for those who pledge $50. That has an estimated delivery date of December 2021.
Higher tiers are available, especially for those who want to buy the RPG as a donation for a reservation library. At the time of writing, over 1,000 people have done this.
