Superhero Week: Iron Man 3 concept art – Extremis

July 4, 2012 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

New concept art that Marvel has released for the forthcoming Iron Man 3 movie from Shane Black seems to add plenty of weight to the Extremis rumours. Extremis isa storyline from Warren Elli’s Iron Man in which machinery becomes part of Stark’s physiology due to nanotechnology. The black-ops attack Stark may also be the terrorist […]

Superhero Week: This Is War teaser pictures

July 2, 2012 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

Marvel are planning something for October. It’s called “This is War” and has been teased by a series of images. One image features a broken Mjolnir, Wolverine in flames, a bloody Captain America shield, a bullet drilled Iron Man and Spider-man with a rifle at his heart. The final image adds Punisher War Zone and […]

Superhero Week: LEGO superheroes

July 1, 2012 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

Our second post in Superhero Week is to look at some LEGO heroes. There are some impressive LEGO builds out there but my favourite may well be Superman and Young Justice versus Brainiac in a battle around The Daily Planet building. There are easier ways to get started with superhero LEGO. The company has both […]

Sailor Moon meets the Avengers with Sailor Avengers

June 22, 2012 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

In a very clever mashup of art and geek culture, Ann Marcellino has put together the anime Sailor Moon with the comicbook Avengers. Okay; perhaps the movie Avengers – but the results are still surprisingly good. Do check out Ann’s tumblr for more examples of talent. Sailor America Sailor Thor Sailor Hulk Sailor Black Widow […]

J.J. Abrams and Favreau’s Revolution trailer

May 15, 2012 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

This sounds like a winning combo. J.J. Abrams is the man behind the Star Trek reboot film, Lost, Fringe and Alcatraz. Jon Favreau is the man resposible for the Iron Man movie and Cowboys & Aliens. I enjoyed the latter. The team have paired up for a post-apocalyptic drama called Revolution. It’s airing in the […]

The Avengers (kinda)

April 24, 2012 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

The Avengers is not yet out here in the UK. Heck – they’re even going to rename our version of the movie to The Avengers Assembled just in case we confuse Thor for Mr Steed and Black Widow for Mrs Peel. What shall we do in the meantime? Why not watch this budget version of […]

Avengers trailer: We have a Hulk

April 1, 2012 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

This is my favourite trailer for the Avengers yet. We see both Nick Fury and Tony Stark talking to Loki. Stark oozes his usual bullish charm. He runs through the Avengers – two master assassins (an interesting way, I think, to refer to Hawkeye and to admit on Black Widow), a super solider and a […]

Steampunk Iron Man glove

March 27, 2012 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

Deviant artist Ian Finch-Field is a man with talent. The Canadian works incredibly well with wood, brass and leather. Influenced by comic books, Ian often makes fantastic pieces that appeal to art lovers and geeks alike. This example is of a handmade leather and brass steampunk gauntlet. I get Ironman vibes from it.

Hulk stars in the 4th Avengers trailer

February 29, 2012 by Andrew Girdwood 1 Comment

This is a two minute plus trailer for The Avengers. What’s rare about this trailer is that it doesn’t just feature Hulk but it’s got the Hulk in some pretty impressive scenes. I had thought, without spoilers, Black Widow’s tactic might have been to get the Hulk to chase her and then run in the […]
