Doctor Who: The Day of the Doctor – 50th Anniversary

September 10, 2013 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

The BBC have confirmed that the title of the 50th Anniversary Special for Doctor Who will be called “The Day of the Doctor”. We had been told “featured film” in length – so around 90 minutes in length. As it turns out The Day of the Doctor will be around 75 minutes in total. That’s […]

Fan-made Peter Capaldi Doctor Who opening sequence

September 4, 2013 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

This opening title sequence for Doctor Who isn’t real. It was made by VFX artist Xander David-Hugh at Neon Visual. The project took some 8 weeks to make and started before Xander even knew Capaldi had been appointed Doctor. The “remastered” theme tune uses the context of a timelord’s twin heart beat.

Dalek cake

August 30, 2013 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

This is another great geeky cake from Mike’s Amazing Cakes. As birthday cakes go … this one is hard to beat. That’s true of most Daleks, though, they’re hard to beat. The days of defeating them with your coat and a handful of mud are long gone.

Watch Matt Smith become Peter Capaldi

August 11, 2013 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

Will we see something like this in Doctor Who? This is a photomorph of 11th Doctor actor Matt Smith morphing into Peter Capaldi who will play the 12th. It’s a good morph. I’m actually struck by how similar the two actors are. I think they have the same sort of chin and forehead. Via Mick […]

Joe Suplicki posted pictures and instructions on how to craft your own travelling Tardis. This is a Tardis that opens up to reveal a handy sewing kit. Seems ideal for any cosplayer who needs to make last minute repairs while in the con hotel.

Doctor Who teaser: #thefourth

July 9, 2013 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

On the 4th the BBC snuck up a mysterious teaser video for Doctor Who. It’s called #thefourth and has voice from the 4th Doctor, as played by Tom Baker, and his companions. Remember all the “and remember” thread running through the Clara Oswald plot? Good. This clip ends with The Doctor urging in a whisper; […]

Have your very own Dr Whooves figure

July 6, 2013 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

I’ve no idea how the product licensing for this one works. I wonder whether My Little Pony or the BBC’s Doctor Who lawyers are twitching? It might be wise to grab your own Dr. Whooves vinyl figure sooner rather than later if you’re tempted. Otherwise you may need a time machine to go back and […]
