Pencil Dice take Kickstarter by storm

February 13, 2015 by Andrew Girdwood 1 Comment

Are simple ideas the best? d20 Entertainment’s Kickstarter to put dice pips on pencils only wanted $1,000 from Kickstarter. There are still two weeks left on the clock and over $15,000 in the bank. For more details check out the campaign page. [Back this Campaign] There’s no video and not much of an introduction to […]

Might you get a lightsaber engagement ring?

February 13, 2015 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

At the time this post was written Etsy store DTEK Designs still had one Lightsaber engagement ring to see. It would only set you back a couple of thousand. Too expensive for you? Too soon? I recommend booking these 4 geeky Valentine’s Day cards so you can prepare for next year.

Here’s a weird one; Ladbrokes Bingo ran a survey to investigate romances and love in a few favourite cult TV series. Here’s what they dug up. The Man from U.N.C.L.E. trailer

February 12, 2015 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

Guy Richie is making a The Man from U.N.C.L.E. movie. Expect loads of 60s kitsch as well as Armie Hammer and Superman’s Henry Cavill. Cavill is Napoleoan Solo and, of course, Armie Hammer is Illya Kuryakin while Hugh Grant steps into the role as Waverly. IMDB suggests David Beckham may even appear. Oh dear.

Star Wars battles Star Trek

February 12, 2015 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o5S5tBuNJdM Forget the pointless “Which is better” arguments and instead imagine what it would be like if the Empire attacked the Federation. It would be harsh. There would be many dramatic moments. You’d have to reach into some cinematic games in order to complete your impressive fan made trailer.

Netflix’s Daredevil trailer

February 12, 2015 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

This trailer popped up online while I was out of the country a week ago. In that time it’s had over 1,000,000 watches. This suggests Netflix is on to a winner with its set of four superhero series. Daredevil, perhaps because of the movie rather than despite it, may be the strongest of the titles. […]

Thriving on Chaos: Five Tips for Running a Tabletop RPG for Large Groups

February 12, 2015 by Ed Leave a Comment

As part of my review for Call of Cthulhu, 7th edition, I ran a game of it last week after finishing a first reading of the books. As I often do whenever I want to play a new game, I used Meetup to gather players in my area (Alexandria, Virginia, a suburb of Washington, D.C.). Meetup allows […]
