The voice of GLaDOS in Portal and Portal II is Ellen McLain. While not being awesome as a voice actor in Half-Life 2, Team Fortress 2 or Portal, Ellen McLain is an opera singer. I’ve not found it easy to dig up samples of Ellen McLain singing. I’m sure people search for McLain’s music but […]
X-Men Born This Way
This is a pretty funky song that the X-Men: First Class movie inspired. I’m told it’s a parody of a piece of music produced by a “Lady Gaga”. If true I have to wonder whether she’s a superhero too; has the name to match. I wonder what her powers might be? Kudos to Ryan from […]
Bioshock completion anxiety: the musical
Lightsatsparkwood21 seems to have trouble finishing things – despite her obvious talent. Our YouTube hero opens this video by explaining that she’s had trouble filming her Bioshock song for us and hopes that this will be the last take. The song? It’s about her inability to play Bioshock without having to… well, stop and hide. […]
Rigamortis: A zombie love story musical
I know, you can barely click a link on YouTube without stumbling across a multi-part zombie love story as a musical these days. I still think Rigamortis is worth a look at, though! Imagine if mankind successfuly manages to quell the zombie infestiation and its the undead on the run. Imagine if we’re down to […]
Kirby Krackle’s Green Lantern song – “Ring Capacity” [spoilers]
Geek rock band Kirby Krackle have a new tune out and it’s all about Green Lantern. I see what they’re doing there with the timing. This is one of my favourite Kirby Krackle songs too and you can even buy it at iTunes or Amazon. There’s a big catch though. Let’s say you’re a total […]
Happy Together remake makes Hunted trailer fun
I’m really impressed by the music in this trailer for Bethesda Softwork’s launched-in-the-US Hunted game. Hunted is a bit of Diablo meets Dungeon Siege combat crawl but plays special attention to the nuances of having two leading characters rather than one. They’re happy together; hence the clever use of music in this age-rated trailer.
Mythbusters do the Doctor Who dance
Have the Mythbusters ever looked into any of the science on Doctor Who? Dunno. They’ve looked into sci-fi before, or, well, some of the real-world science around sci-fi films like Deep Blue Sea. This video stars just one Mythbuster – the famous Adam Savage – a heck of a lot of electricity being pumped out […]
Leonard Nimoy as you’ve never seen him before: the Bruno Mars music video
This is a music video for Bruno Mar’s album Doo-Wops & Hooligans (iTunes link). It’s all about Leonard Nimoy. I didn’t spy much of a Fringe shoutout in it but there’s more than enough Star Trek references. The vid’s clealry working. There’s been over a quarter of a film views on YouTube since this went […]
Portal 2: The Turret Opera
Before we begin – in case you don’t know – let me direct you to the Portal 2 music page where you can download the entire soundtrack for free or even pick up some Portal 2 ringtones for Android or iOS. Right! Moving on! A Cappella Records team up with, er, with Aperture Science in […]
Tron, Daft Punk, Derezzed – all made uber shiny with electric guitar cover
One of the great things about Tron 2 was the soundtrack. Daft Punk is the perfect band for the franchise. As much as I like Daft Punk it doesn’t mean that I’ll deny they can be trumped. I think Swan the White Pig has managed to do just that with his electric guitar cover of […]
