Bungie has released a video called Carnage Carnival which features some of the team discussing the beta release of the game.
A number of things are clear. First off; this is your typical “we’re very proud of our product” presentation. Bungie has every reason to be very proud of Halo and Halo Reach looks to be awesome but if you’re in the wrong mood then wait until later before watching this featurette.
Secondly, it’s very clear that Bungie has an on-going battle with game balance. They need to make sure no one weapon is too powerful but need to ensure some weapons are better suited to some situations than others.
Halo Reach is far more complex than previous Halos – there’s more to with armour in this game and enhancements like jetpacks. You can imagine just how a jetpack makes the arena balance so much harder to get right.
