GoDice by Particula are being advertised on Facebook, and it seems to be working. There are nearly 2,000 backers for the project and, at the time of writing, 38 days still to find more.
If you just watch the pitch video, then you might not think these dice apply to tabletop RPGs, but there are “shells” available that convert these die to d4, d8, d10, d12 and d20. I imagine the shells make the dice pretty big and it’s worth noting the d4, d8 and d12 are actually d24s with repeated numbers. Hey, it’s still random.
The early bird tier is about to close, which would get you 5 dice and the charging case for $59. After that… well, it’s a mystery because Particula hasn’t disclosed any non-early bird tiers! Let’s hope they have someone ready to publish some new tiers.
Importantly, if you fancy these games to enhance your RPG and wargames, then you need to go for at least the DND tier. The early bird tier for DND ends in just over a day, and there’s no replacement tier yet announced, but it’ll set you back $99, and it’ll get you 6 connected dice, 10 games, the charging case, stand, dice up and dice shells for d10, d10(%), d20, d4, d8 and d12.

Not going to work for my D&D table if I have to remove the die from the shell every hour and charge it. Our games can easily run for 6 or more hours and we’re too lazy to open our dice to recharge them. Maybe make actual D20, D10, D8, D6 and D4 dice? Maybe even D3 that can be recharged without the need to open anything. Even better would a Qi like charging dice roll pad…
