The Forgotten Realms has become D&D’s default campaign setting. It’s where Baldur’s Gate, Neverwinter and Waterdeep can both be found.
The planet is called Toril, and it has eight different continents; Faerun (the most famous), Zakhara, Kara-Tur, Maztica, Anchrorome, Katashaka, Laerakond and Osse.
Redditor u/WormSlayer shared a Google Doc that lists all the currencies of the Forgotten Realms that we know about.
Find the location you’re interested in on the list on the left and then the standard D&D currency across the top. For example, we can see that in Chessenta there’s a coin called the Bebolt and it’s worth 20 gold pieces.
Are all coins equal? Not really, many but not all currencies are accepted at face value around the Forgotten Realms, but WormSlayer’s document indicates those which are not.
Thanks to WormSlayer, it’s now easy to answer questions like “Can I spend the money I got in Moonshades in Mirabar?” or “Can I trade this Ducat for a Dubloon?”
