Microsoft and Mojang Studios have built an adventure game out of Minecraft. Actually, a small dedicated team at Mojang has (the press pack includes photographs of two developers).
Up to four players can go adventuring together in Minecraft Dungeons. Why? To save the village. This feels like a D&D dungeon crawl in the truest sense though there’s no official word as to whether the quest begins in a tavern.
To save the village you and your allies have to take down the evil Arch-Illager. That sounds like a horrible cross between an archlich and a gossipy villager.
It won’t just be dungeons that you explore in Minecraft Dungeons. The blocky world will have swamps, canyons and, oh yeah, mines.
There will be new monsters for this version of Minecraft, including the Dungeon Creeper. New unique items provide ways to power up, and you can personalise your character so that you can improve your tanking ability or, if you prefer, hang back with ranged weapons.
Minecraft Dungeon is coming to Windows and Xbox devices in the Spring of 2020.
