You may have done this yourself. Imagine a titanic boss battle in a game like Final Fantasy where you’re burning through healing spells and its a war of attrition. What do you do? Summon up a monster and hope it gets one, perhaps, two attacks in before the game’s villain easily slays (or dispells it).
Similar things happen in tabletop RPGs too as monsters are summoned without notice in two other desperately bad or mistaken situations.

Andy Kluthe and Tristan Cooper from Dorkly have done it again. They note ‘Why it would suck to be an RPG summon’ and they’re not wrong.
I’ve got to say, though, that boss monster in the first panel might not be my first choice as a line manager.
