WizKids and Ubisoft have signed a deal that will bring the French computer game publisher’s smash hit franchise to HeroClix.
HeroClix will allow games to have a tabletop experience of Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood and Assassin’s Creed: Revelations. In fact, WizKids has designed a split feed gravity display for retailers to promote the items. In a retailer friendly release, WizKids also note that the displays will have exclusive figures and come with a price aimed at impulse buyers.
The Assassin’s Creed Heroclix range can be played as either a standalone game or mixed with other Heroclix models. Figures include Ezio and Cesare Borgia.
The range is due out in October. Assassin’s Creed III, the last of the main titles from the computer game franchise, is also due out in October on gaming consoles and November for Windows machines.
What do you think? Is this a surprising partnership? Does this hint that Ubisoft will be exploring more traditional superhero titles and are already looking to establish key partnerships?

Since heroclix are far too addictive, like super hero heroin (mmmm, more-ish), so I think it’s a great move for the company.
I’m pleasantly surprised HeroClix has a player base large enough to interest Ubisoft.
Mind you, I suppose this could be a simple as WizKids coughing up the cash for a straight forward licensing deal…
