E3: Wonderbook: Book of Spells

Sony and JK Rowling are teaming up for the first content for Wonderbook. From JK Rowling’s point of view it’s an extension of Pottermore.

Wonderbook is an augmented reality accessory for the PlayStation 3 that Sony announced, tonight, at E3 2012. To use the Wonderbook: Book of Spells players will use their PS Move as if was a magic wand.

The Book of Spells will include poems but also information about spells from the Potterverse. In terms of gameplay, the Wonderbook will include challenges and puzzles.

Sony have managed to keep Wonderbook a secret. This is impressive. The augmented reality requires the PlayStation Eye to work. However, given that there’s a Harry Potter franchise offer to launch the new accessory it is likely to command significant media attention.
