Toei have released the first 20 minutes of Rainbow-Colored Fireflies: The Eternal Summer Vacation (Niji-iro Hotaru Eien no Natsu Yasumi). They’ve said they’ll make it available until the 18th of May which is just before the cinema release. It’s not clear whether they’ll then pull this clip from YouTube.
Yuta is a young boy who lost his father, just a year ago, in a car accident. While out hunting beetles at a dam in the countryside he used to visit with his father, Yuta slips, falls and wakes up in a village that should be underwater. It quickly transpires that he’s gone back 30 years in time.
The film is an adaptation of Masayuki Kawaguchi’s 2007 novel and directed by Konosuke Uda.
