Samsung are into their video marketing and are pretty good at growing viral videos. I suspect this latest video to help boost the sales of the Samsung Note will be another success.
The Samsung Galaxy Note is an Android device that’s larger than a phone but smaller than a tablet. It’s designed for, well, for individuals but I’ve been tempted myself. Previous marketing efforts have included an interactive video of an artist using it at the zoo.
Sticking with the animal theme the latest video stars and elephant. My contact says;
“This footage is all real, but since pretty much everyone we showed it to thinks its faked we’re going to upload some unedited out-takes as well.”
All I ask is that you take a look at the video and let me know, in the comments below, whether you think it’s a fake or not.
Update: More videos are popping up on YouTube. Why all the different accounts? Do these make the elephant claim any more likely?
of course it’s fake ffs
Possibly fake, but the tip of an elephant’s trunk is perfectly capable of interacting with a touch screen. Not sure about the stylus use though. Whilst elephants have been documented using paint brushes and pens, the stylus is probably too small for it to hold.
I hear that as an argument for “fake”. I’m not sure about the stylus but I do notice that Peter doesn’t seem to be paying all that much attention to the screen… unless elephants look sideways. Which… oh, I think they do!
the ending bit is cgi, “waving bye”??
@fuzz not cgi at all – the ‘waving bye’ bit is something Noppakhao does all the time – no need for cgi
Nooooo, none of this video is fake. I have known this elephant for 7 years and he is one smart elephant and very entertaining and a joy to be around. You can visit him at the Royal Elephant Kraal in Ayutthaya where he was born and also meet his parents. I was there when Samsung came to do the ad for the galaxy phone. Noppakhao (aka Peter) was so smart they decided to use the pre takes as they felt there was no need to do a final take. you can also find out more about him at elephantstay.com and… Read more »
@duhhhh you are so wrong
BAZ500 What I’m interested in is whether this elephant has gone through phajaan or not? it seems likely as he is a captive elephant. i care less about possible “special effects” than I do about these amazing animals suffering for human entertainment.
IsoldeWunderbarDavey BAZ500 no, this elephant was born at the Kraal. The crush/phajaan is not used, never has and never will – that method is used to break the spirits of wild captured babies/elephants to train quickly for sale. Like any illegal trade it has to be done quickly. Elephants born in domesticity start a bond with humans from birth. Teaching simple commands like no, come, stop etc when they are very young is the same as their mother teaching boundaries, same as human children, same as dogs etc. These are big babies and need to understand humans cant play as rough as elephants… Read more »
