Prague-based indie studio Remorker will launch a crowdfunding campaign on 6 October 2026 to fund an English translation and a physical print run of Kalusa: The Enchanted City. The project brings an established Czech setting into English as a system-neutral social sandbox focused on urban intrigue and character relationships.

Designed to elevate the often-neglected social pillar of fantasy roleplaying games, the book includes 16 non-linear adventures and 33 major non-player characters. The production avoids generative AI entirely, relying instead on handcrafted writing and original human-created illustrations.
System and Rules
Kalusa: The Enchanted City functions as a system-neutral core campaign setting, allowing game masters to adapt the material to their preferred rules. Rather than forcing a single engine, the developers provide dedicated conversion booklets covering three distinct tabletop systems.
Official rules conversion applies to Pinnacle Entertainment Group’s Savage Worlds Adventure Edition (SWADE). Players using Fifth Edition receive an unofficial companion designed for the 2024 revision covering character levels 3 to 10. Narrative-focused tables can run the setting using a bespoke hack of John Harper‘s Forged in the Dark engine, originally popularised by Blades in the Dark. These conversion booklets supply the exact statistics, ability ratings, and mechanical encounters needed to run the sandbox across all three options.
Setting: The Enchanted City
The setting centres on Kalusa, a sprawling high fantasy metropolis slowly recovering after a mysterious magical illness nearly destroyed its social order. Architecture throughout the city draws heavy visual inspiration from Prague’s historical landmarks and winding streets.
Magic operates with unusual potency across the city, leaving streets steeped in living enchantments, volatile hexes, and ambient spells that have developed independent personalities over centuries. The tone blends whimsical absurdity with serious social consequences, letting groups move between high-stakes municipal politics and traditional dungeon crawls. Factions vie for power beneath the watchful gaze of intelligent magical cats who silently observe the population.
NPCs and Adventures

Player agency drives the campaign through deep interpersonal dynamics rather than simple combat encounters. Across 16 non-linear adventures, the party encounters 33 primary figures who each stand at personal crossroads.
The narrative allows players to sway loyalties, form rivalries, ruin plans, or pursue romance. Eliminating or ignoring key personalities will not break the sandbox; the setting adapts around player choices. Encounters present varied dilemmas such as navigating living curses, unravelling a tyrant’s dream, calming weeping towers, or tending to the city’s feline observers.
Art Style
Visual presentation relies entirely on original, human-made art created without generative machine models. Lead illustrator Tofusenshi supplies distinctive, full-colour portraiture for all 33 major characters.
The aesthetic combines clean arcanepunk elements with classic fantasy costume design. Each illustrated character entry pairs directly with a one-page profile detailing personal quirks, core secrets, social burdens, and mechanical game statistics.
