Handcrafted hobby accessory maker Four Score Gaming is expanding its signature turned-wood painting handle into a modular workstation system featuring interchangeable heads, built-in finger stabilisers, and dedicated desktop storage. The UK workshop plans to transform its standalone painting aid into an interconnected ecosystem that accommodates varying miniature-scale requirements and reduces workbench clutter.

Speaking to Geek Native at Tabletop Scotland, Peter Hague, founder and craftsman at Four Score Gaming, confirmed that the studio is developing alternative head attachments that interface directly with the handle’s cupped magnetic mounting socket. Each variant introduces distinct surface areas, altered ergonomics, and physical finger rests, allowing miniature painters to brace their hands during fine detail work while securing larger or irregularly shaped model bases.
Four Score Gaming launched in 2020, focusing on turning native UK timber into tactile gaming equipment. The current Mk2 handle uses hand-turned beech, finished by hand, and couples a cupped wooden recess with metal striker plates to hold miniatures via magnetic bases or mounting putty. A secondary magnet embedded in the base of the handle allows painters to anchor the tool to steel sheets while wet coats dry, mitigating tip-overs on crowded desks.
The upcoming modular line builds on that base retention mechanic. Hague confirmed he is designing a purpose-built desktop storage dock to organise multiple heads and handles simultaneously. Rather than leaving wet projects exposed on flat workbenches or rolling loose in drawers, the dock provides dedicated footprints to keep work-in-progress models elevated and secured between painting sessions.
The swappable head system also addresses physical strain during extended hobby sessions. Standard miniature grips often force a static hand position that grows fatiguing over long batch-painting projects. By offering heads with dedicated resting ridges and specialised finger stabilisers, the modular range aims to give painters multiple leverage points depending on whether they are working on standard 28mm infantry or broader display pieces.
