Mythical Realms will expand its modular EVA foam tabletop terrain line with dedicated 3D door packs and flip-to-reveal trap tiles, Geek Native can exclusively reveal.
Speaking to Geek Native on the show floor at Tabletop Scotland at the Royal Highland Centre, the indie terrain studio confirmed both products are currently in development as direct modular add-ons to their interlocking tile range.

The stand, marked by a stone wall breached by an imposing dragon gargoyle, drew steady crowds as convention-goers cleared out stock of their core dungeon tiles. Produced from lightweight EVA foam, the tiles assemble using jigsaw-style interlocking tabs, bypassing the need for plastic clips, magnets, or glue. While Mythical Realms debuted its system with standard 108-piece square grid sets, their newer hexagonal tile packs and dedicated hybrid connector pieces have become central to the range, letting Game Masters transition cleanly from structured stone halls into irregular cavern layouts.
The upcoming door expansion directly addresses verticality. Rather than relying on flat, top-down illustrations printed on the foam surface, the new door tiles feature integrated three-dimensional door models that physically rise up from the floor. The design preserves the lightweight, pack-flat utility of EVA foam while introducing clear sightline obstruction and physical barriers to tactical combat.
Tactical surprise drives the second upcoming pack: trap tiles. Designed for instant deployment, these pieces feature a reversible design that Game Masters flip over the moment a player character triggers a hazard. Instead of relying on dry-erase markers or pausing combat to consult private dungeon keys, the table sees the physical floor drop into spikes, acid, or pitfalls directly beneath the affected miniature.

The announcement follows strong convention traction for the team’s Dungeon Architect Expansion Pack. That 21-piece set introduced curved corridors to ease the transition between sharp angles and cavernous chambers, a component that proved to be one of the studio’s quickest sellers across the event.
While official pricing and formal retail dates remain unconfirmed, both the 3D doors and hidden trap expansions are slated to join the core lineup fairly soon.
