The first trailer for Blade Runner 2099 has premiered at San Diego Comic-Con during Prime Video‘s Hall H presentation – and it looks absolutely as visually stunning as you’d hope for.
Set a full 50 years after Blade Runner 2049, the eagerly-awaited series, starring Hunter Schafer and Michelle Yeoh is set to debut on 25th November.
Here’s the official synopsis:
Fifty years after the events of Blade Runner 2049, Los Angeles has been reborn, just not by humanity. Cora, a fugitive in a final bid to stop running, takes on one last identity: a Blade Runner. Forced to partner with Olwen, a Replicant days from dying, she hunts down a runaway hiding a truth that could collapse their fragile city.
Executive producer Ridley Scott is working alongside Alcon Entertainment for the series, which takes us back to the city of Los Angeles… but it doesn’t seem, upon first glance, that the years have been kind. However, the cyberpunk aesthetic is still quite delicious. Got to be honest, I’m looking forward to hearing the familiar sounds of replicant-riddled LA.
In the trailer, Cora is quoted saying: “Replicants they keep taking it all away. How much longer until we have nothing? Until we are nothing?”

The cast also includes Dimitri Abold and Lewis Gribben, alongside other appearances from Katelyn Rose Downey, Daniel Rigby, Johnny Harris, Amy Lennox, Sheila Atim, Matthew Needham, Tom Burke, and Maurizio Lombardi.
And according to showrunner Silka Luisa, Yoah’s character Olwen’s driving factor is to track down a group of missing rogue replicants whilst literally running against the clock, in a plot that turns Roy Batty’s story on its head.
Luisa said:
She is hunting down a group of missing rogue replicants. She’s in the final days of her life, so she knows she has only days left to live because replicants know down to the day when they’re gonna die. It’s certain and it’s definitive.
This makes things so much more interesting. It’s early days, but so far it’s looking really promising for this upcoming sci-fi series, and Blade Runner fans will be waiting for more tantalising details!
