The first official trailer for horror adaptation Other Mommy has just dropped from Universal Pictures, and it looks promisingly creepy AF – hinting that director Rob Savage may be pulling no punches.
For a first trailer, I don’t expect the creep factor to be dialled all the way up to 10 yet, but as someone who’s read the book, I know what’s potentially on the way, and if the movie stays true to the original book Incidents Around the House, we’re in for a real horror treat.
If you’re a fan of reading about doppelgängers, haunted houses and cryptids, this movie is definitely going to appeal – but it might also have you double checking your closet before bed! Other Mommy is about a demonic presence that builds over time, but starts in a little girl’s closet – and it’s so insidious that her parents don’t notice until it becomes a real heckin’ problem.
According to the official description:
Bela, an 8-year-old girl living in a home with marital problems, confronts a sinister entity that comes out of her closet. The presence, who she calls ‘Other Mommy,’ becomes increasingly threatening to her and her family.
Alongside Jessica Chastain, we have Jay Duplass as Bela’s father (known as Daddo), and Arabella Olivia Clark as Bela, alongside Dichen Lachman, Arian Moayed, and Karen Allen.

Yep, this one is going straight onto my list! Despite the fact I’ve read the book – I’m super curious to see how it’s going to be adapted to film and how some of the more severe scenarios are handled. Right now, I’m getting some scary AF vibes, and loving it!
Here’s a bigger shot of Other Mommy, still looking fairly human here:

And you’ll be able to watch Other Mommy when it’s released in cinemas on 9th October. We can hardly wait!
