Daniel D. Fox and SLLSWRD Publishing have updated the Zweihänder RPG Third Party Licence. The new rules allow creators to design, publish, and sell independent content for the grimdark roleplaying game without paying licensing fees or seeking prior approval.

Operating globally across digital marketplaces, the updated licence aims to simplify the publication process for independent writers and developers. Creators can sell new adventures, monsters, and classes across virtual tabletops, PDFs, apps, and print. This move comes weeks after Fox handed the logistical operations of the Zweihänder Reforged Kickstarter over to World of Game Design, freeing up his schedule to focus on creative leadership and open licensing.
The licence positions itself as creator-first, explicitly citing titles such as Pirate Borg and Mörk Borg as inspirations for open game design. The rules state the agreement is irrevocable and requires no pre-approvals, though SLLSWRD Publishing reserves the right to periodically update the terms. The company notes that future updates will not invalidate existing original content.
Creators cannot copy official artwork or text without explicit written agreement, though the company has not outlined a formal process or timeline for securing those rights.
Fox’s specific sign-off, banning real-world prejudices and “-isms” from the game, is a strict condition within the otherwise permissive framework. With open licences relying heavily on community self-regulation and no approval process in place, the burden of policing hateful content falls on the audience and the hosting platforms rather than the original publisher.
