Modiphius is continuing its annual tradition of Halloween scares for the Achtung! Cthulhu roleplaying game, this year trading pumpkin patches for polar ice. The publisher has released two new, free supplements for its Achtung! Cthulhu 2d20 system, both available for download.

The new monster book, Halloween Horrors IV: Arctic Abominations, shifts the Weird War II setting to frozen landscapes. The main 15-page PDF introduces five new monsters suited for cold and snowy encounters. These include:
- The Chenoo: Shaggy humanoids stained with the blood of their victims.
- The Ijiraq: Malicious shapeshifters who enjoy torturing their prey.
- The Ikuutayuq: Near-immortal servants of the Great Old Ones.
- The Lindworm: A gigantic, carnivorous dragon-worm.
- U-627, the Dead Choirmaster: A bizarre entity that is part mythos creature and part lost U-boat.
This last creation, U-627, was designed by Ted Mittman, the winner of Modiphius’s “Design a Mythos Monstrosity” competition.
To accompany the new bestiary, Modiphius has also released a free one-shot adventure, A Cold Day in Hel. This priority mission is custom-written to deploy the new arctic abominations against a team of agents.
Both Arctic Abominations and A Cold Day in Hel are available as free PDF downloads from DriveThruRPG.
While the supplements are designed for the Achtung! Cthulhu 2d20 system, Modiphius notes that the creatures and scenario can be adapted for other roleplaying systems. Players new to the 2d20 system can get started with the Achtung! Cthulhu 2d20 Free Quickstart Pack.
Alongside the free content, Modiphius is running its Halloween Sale on DriveThruRPG, offering 31% off its Achtung! Cthulhu product line for a limited time.
