The Forge

The Forge is home of many of the academic elite of the indie press RPG world. In fact, the domain name for the site is www.indie-rpg.com.

Whereas I’m very much a fan of the indie mindset and rather turned off by stat crunching and boasting about level such-n-such paladins I have to warn that too much exposure to any forum can be frustrating. The Forge, just like all successful forums across the web, has its own coterie of significant names who set the tone of the conversation. There’s an in-crowd and everyone else.

Rather than just being a soap box for a new game designer to demonstrate how clever they are the Forge’s success and value to the gaming community is its ability to surface new talent and interesting games.
