The official title for this The Animation Workshop graduation project is Rogue but given the laughing adventurers at the start, I like to think of it as Don’t Get Cocky.
In one way, the piece’s villain feels like a perfect big bad because it’s a neat idea, but my GM instincts tell me that this scene wouldn’t work in a TTRPG. It would annoy the players more than it would engage them. But what do you think?
The film opens with a creature crawling through a field, followed by a title card with blood dripping down the letters. A group of characters is then introduced, entering a large hall where they encounter a figure on a throne. The scene shifts to a battle in a white void against shadowy figures. The film concludes with a series of abstract and surreal images before returning to the opening field scene.
The animated short film Rogue was brought to life by a talented team, including Director Daniel N. Castillo Suarez, Art Director Leo Bailey, Animation Lead and Character Designer Maria Zheleznova, Character Designer and Animator Kinga Anna Kasperczyk, Storyboard Artist and Animator Nils Kuhl, and Technical Director and Project Manager Niels Glenhammer.
